RPLC provides intensive leadership training for teens entering grades 7-11 in an exciting overnight camp environment.  We are looking for staff who have been involved in leadership experiences in their school and/or community organizations.  This could include, but is not limited to student leadership, student council, athletic council, sports teams, school clubs and organizations, youth group, Guiding or Scouts organizations, camp, LIT or CIT programs, 4H etc.

There are a few different roles available for staff at RPLC including counselors, lifeguards and various Senior Staff positions.  Counselors and lifeguards must be 17 or older at the time of camp.

Counselors are responsible for the care of approximately 6-8 campers throughout the course of camp.  You plan and organize leadership sessions, interest groups and assist with and participate in evening program.  Leadership sessions include a host of interactive activities that integrate communication, conflict resolution, team building, diversity, self-discovery and more.  We incorporate a low ropes course and all areas of camp into the program, providing hands-on leadership experiences through which to learn these important skills.

Lifeguards will work on the waterfront under the supervision of our experienced Waterfront Director(s).  You will lifeguard during our two free swim periods and instruct or help run waterfront based interest groups as well as assisting with other waterfront focused camp programming.  Lifeguards also assist our Head of Slop to clean dishes after meals which is actually a very fun area to be a part of.

Senior Staff work together closely to plan and run camp.  It is a busy and incredibly rewarding experience.  The Senior Staff positions are Assistant Leadership Director, Section Head (male and female), Programmer, and Waterfront Director and Assistant Waterfront Director.  Please see the application form posted below for more detailed descriptions of each position.

All staff must participate in staff training.  The dates for staff training are as follows:

  • Staff Training Dates will be updated in the new year
  • Staff must be available to arrive at camp on Saturday, August 26, 2017

Applications for all Counselor and Lifeguard positions are due Sunday, March 12, 2017 and Senior Staff Applications are due Sunday, March 5, 2017.
