It’s that time of year again when we all look forward to another summer at Red Pine Camp. 

Red Pine Camp, responding to camper demand, is introducing on-line registration.  Rest assured, you will still be able to resister via traditional methods (e-mail or calling the camp office), and the booking priority will remain unchanged – shareholders first, then returning campers followed by new campers.

SHAREHOLDER booking will be between February 1 and February 17. We are also taking applications from returning non-shareholder campers during the same time period.  Rest assured that shareholders will still retain preference in bookings.

 For RETURNING campers who are not shareholders:

• If you wish to return the same week and same cabin as last year, your application will be processed as requested (if the cabin is not already booked by a shareholder).
• If you wish to make a change (different week and/or cabin), we suggest that you indicate the same week and/or cabin from the previous year and indicate the requested change.  Your request for change will be processed providing the desired space and time becomes available.

NEW campers should contact the camp office BY PHONE ONLY (613-828-0700) beginning at 8:00 p.m. on March 12^th, 2012 (leave a message).  All new campers will be booked according to availability.

Also new this year will be the requirement of a signed waiver for each camper. This is a requirement for insurance as well as the Ontario Camps Association and has become necessary in a wide variety of organizations (including schools, churches, sports clubs, camps and community organizations).  Each adult camper (18 years and older) is required to complete and sign a waiver while children and minors (less than 18 years) can be included on one form which must be signed by each responsible parent. The waivers forms are included on the Red Pine Camp website on the on-line booking page. We would ask that you return signed waiver(s) with your deposit for camp.     

Please insure that your deposit and waiver(s) reach the camp office within two weeks of making your reservation.  Note that there is no on-line payment method this year.

As this is our first year using the online registration system, we appreciate your patience and support as we work through any issues you may encounter with the system. To assist you in the online registration process we have developed user manual and a YouTube video.

Please note that the person completing the registration must use the primary camper flag (and there can be only one primary camper per registration). Individual camper requests will be linked to the primary camper.

The Operating Committee wishes to thank the amazing staff of the summer of 2011. Under the leadership of Sarah Bolen, Ted Edwards and Lorraine Holt, the camp saw another successful summer.

As we look forward to the summer of 2012, we have a number of staffing activities taking place.

Camp Coordinators: The Committee is pleased to announce that Lorraine Holt will be returning as coordinator for the summer of 2012. Regretfully, after seven summers, Sarah Bolen will not be returning next summer. We would like to thank Sarah for  her contribution over the years and wish her well in her future. At this time, the Committee is presently receiving expressions of interest for persons who might wish to work with Lorraine as co-coordinator or assistant coordinator.  Our hope is to receive expressions of interest prior to January 15, 2011.

Senior Staff: The Committee will be receiving application for 13 Senior Staff positions until December 16, 2011. Interviews will be scheduled between December 28, 2011 and January 2, 2012 with decisions being made in early January. Descriptions for the various positions can be found on the Red Pine Camp website.

Junior Staff: Applications for the 55 can be requested by contacting Barb Fisher at the Red Pine Office. The deadline for applications is January 31, 2012 and interviews will be scheduled for the weekend of February 10-12, 2012.

Veteran camper Loris Jordan featured in The Ottawa Citizen

Long-time Red Pine Camper and dedicated work-party volunteer Loris Jordan, who served on the RPC Board of Directors for more than 20 years, was recently featured in The Ottawa Citizen for her selfless efforts to help Ottawa’s homeless. Many of you have had “Yoga with Colleen” sessions at Red Pine and have asked her for videos after those sessions. You will be pleased to know that Colleen has made some videos on yoga  which  can be seen at the following link:
