Welcoming the Executive Camp Director

Dear Red Pine Campers,

The Board of Red Pine Camp is very pleased to announce that Janet Cottreau has been hired as our first Executive Camp Director. Many of you know Janet from her work making the Red Pine Leadership Camp and our rentals program a success, where she was responsible for  overseeing all the strategic and operational aspects of those two initiatives. She has attended camp since 1980, was on Junior staff in the 90’s, and was the summer coordinator in 2007 and 2008. She previously worked as a teacher in Toronto and until taking this full time position was an occasional teacher for the OCDSB.

Janet certainly knows Red Pine Camp, its challenges and opportunities. I’m convinced that the combination of her full time attention to the job and her broad skill set will serve to make the camp experience even better for everyone, staff and campers alike, while maintaining the traditions we have all come to cherish.

This is a new role for the camp, and it will be a challenging one. There is a lot to learn, and a lot to do. I encourage us all to support Janet as she grows into the job, knowing that if we do, the camp will grow with her.

This announcement is the culmination of almost two years of effort and I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the many people who took the time to help shape the role, define its objectives, and look into what it may mean for the future of the Camp. On the hiring side we had a high number of quality applications, so special thanks go out the board members who participated in the hiring committee, and the independent members who helped ensure we had a fair and transparent process: Brian Cornelius, a long time camper with extensive Red Pine experience,  and  Robin Cloutier of the Dovercourt Recreation Centre.

Now Welcoming Senior Staff Applications!

December 5th, 2018

The Operating Committee is accepting applications for Summer 2019 Senior Staff Positions. Send in your cover letter, with your top three choices for Senior Staff, and your resume before December 17th. Submitting your application sooner than the last day allows for us to schedule an interview time that works for you.  Interviews will be held in Ottawa December 27 – 29th.  The Operating Committee is looking forward to meeting you!

All qualified applicants are encouraged to send their resume’s to the camp office attention to the Red Pine Operating Committee, through redpine@redpinecamp.org, for consideration for Summer Camp Director / Assistant Summer Camp Director positions for 2019.
